American football, whether on the national or college level, is a favorite passes time of the general American society. There are many different teams around though each state has its own major team with its cheerleaders and mascots in tow. People collect football rookie cards with their pictures on them. The mascot could originate from the teams logo or it could be based on a well-known character that used to live in the area. For the Baltimore Ravens the mascot is named after Edgar Allan Poe that used to live in the area. It is a raven though there are two live ravens named Rise and Conquer. The function of the mascot is to entertain the crowd and to get them to cheer and encourage their teams.
