Popular Upside Down Christmas Tree Controversial

An upside down Christmas tree is a controversial novelty in today’s holiday decorating items. The concept of the upside down tree is actually old, even though the trend of today is fairly new to the market. The idea really dates back to Medieval times in Eurpoe, where placing the tree upside down represented the Holy Trinity. Those who do not take kindly to this idea do not agree with it supposed representation and feel it is sacreligious, but supposedly that was not its intent. Those who oppose it believe the tip pointing up to Heaven better depicts what Christmas really stands for.

Originally, the retailers who displayed an upside down Christmas tree did not really expect to sell it as such. Apparently, someone had an idea that placing the tree upside down would give customers a better look at the many ornaments hanging on it, in an effort to stir up interest and produce more sales. Hanging it upside down, however, freed up extra floor space for storage and convenience for the customers. Instead of just buying more decorations and ornaments, the customers saw the upside down Christas tree as something new and different, and its popularity grew from there.

There is more than one way, of course, to display the upside down Christmas tree in your home. A bracket can be placed on the ceiling to hang the tree from, similar to the looks of a chandelier. Just make sure the bracket is in place firmly and the ceiling can support the size and weight of the tree. Do not attempt to hang it from a dropped ceiling unless you know for sure it can bear the weight. You should be able to find the trees and any other supplies you need at a Christmas-tree-shop or other local retailer near you.
