Looking to buy a beautiful engagement ring but want something different from the regular diamond option? Maybe you are just want to save a little money on the ring but don’t want to resort to getting a lab created diamond instead of the real thing. Or it could be that you just want something a bit more traditional. If this is the case then you will want to take a look at the possibility of getting a ruby engagement ring.

Although its not the first thing that comes to mind for many people its actually quite a common choice, and in years gone by the ruby was the number one gemstone for this use. Its a gem that stands for passion, love and commitment, there is no other better choice, and in my view the only reason the diamond has become more popular in recent years is because of its clear color which is more closely associated with the idea of purity.

Top quality rubies set in a gold band can be used for any purpose, but something as special as this seems particularly appropriate for the a ring that has such an important part in our lives. Ancient beliefs held that rubies signified that the wearer was wise, healthy and was a sign of good fortune. What better way would there be to seal your lifelong commitment to each other?

Although a ruby ring can be picked up at a lower price point than diamonds they are certainly not cheap. Although you wouldn’t want to get a cheap ring for an engagement if you expect the partnership to last the rest of your life. You can expect to pay anything from around $500 for a decent entry level ring, but prices can go all the way up to tens of thousands of dollars if money is no object. Regardless of how much you have to spend, I’m sure you will be able to find a ruby ring that does your relationship proud.
