Every woman has to have at least one pair of boots. But with so many kinds of boots out there, it may be a shopping dilemma trying to decide which style fits your body type and personality best. Try to choose between ankle boots and knee-high boots. While thigh-high boots are all the rage with its ultra glamorous and sexy look, it may not be as versatile and comfortable as the two kinds of boots.
Ankle boots tend to weave its way in and out of fashion for a certain amount of time. While they were extremely hot in the 1980’s, they may step back for a while with so many trends coming in all the time. But they never get out of style as its overall fashionable appeal has made it a fashion staple for years and years to come.
The way ankle boots were worn in the 1980’s has however greatly changed since then. While it was trendy to wear your ankle boots with a mini skirt or brightly-colored socks in the new wave era, sporting that look today will land you in the fashion police hit list. Nowadays, make sure your socks don’t peep above your ankle boots, and pair your short skirts for taller boots or shorter shoes.
While paring your ankle boots with mini skirts is a big no-no, you can wear it with a long skirt, boot-cut jeans or skinny-leg dress pants and look ultra hot and stylish. Ankle boots has the tendency to make your legs look shorter, so pairing it with skinny jeans, tights or leggings especially with the same color will create the impression of a longer legs and an even slimmer look.
As to what style of ankle boots fits you best, the choice is up to you! Depending on your mood or personal style, go crazy with the endless selection of amazing designs: leather, suede, flat, high-heel, fringed, buckled, straps, laces, etc.! Simple or elegantly embellished, the freedom is all yours!
Unlike ankle boots, knee-high boots can be paired with a short skirt and look ultra chic. Avoid tight-fitting mini skirts though since it may give the wrong impression. Keep it tasteful in an A-line mini skirt or mid-calf skirt that falls on mid-thigh. This creates a sexy yet sophisticated appeal. If you should wear a tight mini skirt, choose a hemline that falls slightly above the knees. Make sure there’s a gap between the top of your boots and the hemline of your skirt for a sexy yet balanced look.
Unless you’re shopping for cowboy boots, choose a pair of knee-high boots that fit your calves well for a sleek look. If you have particularly skinny calves, go for stretch boots for a secure and fashionable look.
There is no absolute rule in buying boots though. As long as it fits you comfortably, you can experiment with as many styles as you want and look classy or grunge depending on your mood. So go ahead and do what boots are made for – walking – in style and comfort.
