Ms. Lowell Harder, an architect born in Australia, settled with her family in London. Many years prior Ms. Harder’s cousin brought leather bags from India, which were unusual yet unique in their style. Her cousin then prompted her in setting up business. She opened up a small business, selling her own designer bags. All bags were still manufactured in India. These bags began attracting attention from influential retailers, enabling her to attain the financial backing which led to obtaining her company now known as Radley handbags.

Radley purses and handbags are now selling thoughout department stores and over 500 independent outlets. The purses are great in style and color, along with the Scottie dog signature logo. Styles such as the Epsom Across the Body model, to the Soho Shoulder bag are fun and functional. None of the bags are cheap, but you should consider the quality of leather these are made from.

In 1991, Ms. Lowell Harder allowed Hidesign, her company prior to Radley, to be taken over by the designers of the flap-over organizers, Tula. Merging with Tula has allowed Ms. Harder to make colourful handbags that are brightly colored and multi-functional. When Ms. Harder first designed these bags, retailers tried to pursuade her to not be as bold, and to stick with the basic colors. At that time Ms. Harder refused to back down despite the differences in their opinions. She was inspired by her love of dogs, thus, adding the scottie logo to each bag she designs. These fun, brightly colored bags have proved to be a great seller.
