Although there are many different makes and models of snowboards, there are around six different kinds of snowboards that are made for specific riding styles. Of these different styles the three most commonly used are freestyle, all-mountain and freeride. The all-mountain snowboards are also often referred to as Alpine snowboards.

This means that the board will have a directional point at the front as well as the back of the snowboard. The reason for this is to give you as much freedom for hitting the tricks and jumps on the board.

The last of the main types of boards is the freeride snowboard and this is the board that all beginner snowboarders should be introduced to first. The freeride board can be used in a range of conditions from the groomed runs to the softer snow and it is more forgiving in that it won’t suddenly catch an edge when you least expect it. The freeride board should give you a great introduction to the world of snowboarding.
