Occasionally, a marriage should come to an end for special circumstances. For these such times that a divorce is not appropriate, an annulment should take place. The difference is that an annulment is a way of voiding the whole thing as if it never happened. The point is to put things back the way they were before the marriage. These kinds of situations can become very confusing and are restricted by laws and regulations, so an annulment lawyer definitely needs to be hired to see through the case. If there are issues that are hard to deal with, having a lawyer will only make things easier.

There are certain conditions that can warrant the immediate split of a married couple. One is simply if one person or even both people are under the legal age to be married. Another is if the two people are related too closely. Whether they knew prior or not, an annulment should take place if any of these circumstances apply. Since these two examples deal with sensitive issues, there is no statute of limitations regarding the laws surrounding annulment. In other words, it doesn’t matter how long the marriage has been in place, they are still valid reasons.

There are other situations however, that are constrained by time limits. For instance, when someone is forced to enter into the marriage and they can prove it the annulment will be granted as long as it is in the certain time frame. If not, a divorce may have to be pursued. Many times a marriage is fraudulent for one reason or another. Extortion and favors done for illegal citizens fall into this category and can result in an annulment if the time limit is respected. The use of an annulment attorney is the key in being successful in this sort of proceeding.
