Google’s Approach To Cell Phone Tracking

During the course of last year, Google has released a very fun cell phone tracker program called Google Latitude. This program managed to dropjaw some people that were amazed about its ability to track down their cell phones so easily.

Would have you believed that Google Latitude is able to detect the location of your phone by using three different cell phone tracking solutions besides GPS? Well, it is true and it is simply incredible.

GPS is the primary source of information for Google Latitude because it is the single most accurate source of information that a cell phone tracking system can use. But there are cases when Google Latitude won’t be able to access the GPS information of a cell phone and it will try to use other ways to do your bidding.

Who would have thought that Wi-Fi can help Google Latitude get enough information to track a cell phone down? Well, it is possible. When your cell phone is near a Wi-Fi providing aria it will automatically start to ping it and this ‘showing its location’. Google Latitude will then be able to see the cell phone and track it down with ease.

As a last resort, Google Latitude will try to triangulate the position in which the one you’re tracking is. This way of tracking someone’s cell phone is not really reliable because it will give only an approximate location of your cell phone. Google Latitude will connect to three cell phone towers and triangulate your location so it won’t be so exact.

But you must know one thing which is very important. If you will want to track down a cell phone with Google Latitude, the cell phone being tracked will need to be under a cell phone service area. This is a very important aspect of cell phone tracking.
