If you currently find yourself in the market for a small coffee machine, but don’t know where to look, it may make sense to consider a machine made by the Zojirushi Corporation. Although this company has become well known for its line of rice makers and other small kitchen appliances, it’s also made quite a name for itself with the relatively recent introduction of two different coffee maker models – the Fresh Brew EC BD15 and the Zutto. Although both of these machines are priced on the upper end of what is considered “normal” for a consumer level automatic drip coffee machine, the extra money you will pay will get you a machine that has been proven to last and perform.

Speaking of performance, each of these machines has been highly reviewed by people that appreciate good coffee. The machines themselves are two of only a handful of machines that can reach the proper brewing temperature, which means that they can extract the optimal flavor and aroma from the coffee grounds. Although this may not sound like a big deal, most coffee machines tend to heat the brew water close to the boiling point, which increases the odds of bitterness in the finished cup.

Apart from their above average performance, the Fresh Brew model features a thermal carafe that is designed to keep the brewed coffee hot without the need to store it on the burner. This feature is huge, since it allows the user to experience a freshly brewed cup of coffee time after time without the need to brew a new pot. Of course, the coffee doesn’t last forever, though it will stay hot in the carafe for at least a couple of hours.

You should expect to pay about $80 for a Zojirushi thermal coffee maker, which is a steal when you consider what you’re getting for the money. The vacuum sealed thermal carafe on its own would cost you around $40, so investing the other $40 in a machine that will brew exceptional coffee is an obvious move.
