Spot Lights for Garden Use

Unlike inside a home where we use bright light sources to fill an entire area, gardens are a bit more subtle. Simply using a powerful flood light to light up the whole garden could be considered overkill. Since gardens are filled with depth and dimension, it makes sense to only focus on the more prominent features, bringing out the best in each object. To do this effectively, one must employ a specific type of light fixture known as a spot light. Using a series of low powered spot lights, one can easily illuminate various areas of the garden and bring them to prominence.

Spot lights are generally placed on the ground, pointing up at the object to be lit. In some cases, the fixtures are mounted to walls up high. Unlike flood lights which have a very broad light range, spot lights are more focused. They are capable of focusing on one or two objects at most as a way to accent them. Because of their powerful effect, only a few lights are needed to bring great beauty to a garden. Plants work well under the spotlight because they are the focus of the garden. Other things like water features and statues can be lit with prominence as well.

In wired spot light systems, all of the fixtures connect to a central low voltage power terminal. Users can connect the terminal to a timer or light sensor for automatic functionality. Incandescent light bulbs are often used in garden lighting spot light systems. For people looking to save time and hassle, solar spot lights are a better option. These units use efficient LED bulbs and do not add onto your power bill. They don’t plug into the wall, but instead gather energy from sunlight, saving you precious money, time and resources. Simple stick them into the ground at the desired location and let them charge up.
