Have you been told that your back door is not suitable for a cat flap? Are you fed up with muddy footprints or your soft furnishings being clawed while you are out? Or maybe you’ve just nearly trodden on one too many mouse corpses! If any of these ring true then maybe you should start doing some research into cat kennels.
An outdoor cat kennel would solve all of these problems as it would instantly negate the need for a cat flap. Of course most people want to know that when they go out for the day, either for work or just to do some shopping, that their well loved pet is comfortable and safe. After all, this is why we install cat flaps in the first place so that they can choose whether to play outside or sleep in the warm. A cat kennel provides a warm and secure bolt hole where a cat can curl up if the weather becomes bad or they just want a quick cat nap! The kennels are quite small and so don’t take up much space. To make the most of it put in any secluded area of your garden so that your cat knows that he will be safe once he climbs inside and place a bed that the cat already likes to sleep on inside. This way she will be more inclined to try the kennel out. Some cats prefer to be high up when they sleep and in this case you could consider putting it on top of the shed.
Though it is possible to by specially made cat kennels a small dog house would work just as well. The specially designed cat kennels are generally plastic, which is very easy to maintain and keep clean, and can be bought with a cat flap entrance which will make the space totally weatherproof.
