Most people spend a fair amount of time in their bathrooms each day, beginning first thing in the morning till late at night. Unfortunately, some bathrooms are not the most inspiring places to be. If your bathroom is like that then you may be in line for some renovating. Even if you do not have a lot of money, some simple things can be done in your bathroom at low cost, that may make all the difference.

One of the first things to look at is your bathroom light situation. Oftentimes just making some simple and cheap adjustments to your bathroom lighting is all that is required to give your whole bathroom a face-lift.

Does your lighting match the overall decor of your bathroom? It is amazing how often this simple step is overlooked. If you are going for a modern style look in your bathroom do be sure that your fixtures also reflect this.

Also, is your bathroom sufficiently well lit. One area that is often under lit is the vanity area. You need good lighting at the mirror, so that tasks such as shaving or putting on make up can be completed without any problems. Usually it is best to put a light directly above the mirror, on the wall or you can also attach bathroom vanity lights to either side of the mirror. Try for natural looking lighting in this area as it is best.

If you need to replace your light fixtures that is pretty easy to do. Modern bathroom light fixtures generally do not cost that much, and just replacing your main light fixture does not need to cost you very much at all.

While discussing saving money, one other idea for your lighting is to be sure to use energy saving light bulbs, and use smaller half sized bulbs whenever you can too. Or install a dimmer switch on your bathroom lights as that will also help you to conserve energy and save money.
