When decorating a house, living space, or simply an indoor environment one should consider the options of styles for the floor. Though decorators often pay more attention to the walls, the floor is where guests attention is most often drawn since relaxed eyes look down more than up. Also, it simply adds something to your area of decor if the floor is able to add to your desired style.

Large area rugs
can give life to a bland floor, or simply a floor that does not include distinctions such as a hard-wood floor; also, it can give a feeling of warmth and comfort to hard floors. The sky is the limit on these rugs, as custom or hand crafted ones (such as Persian weaved rugs) can reach thousands of dollars.

There are of course less expensive replications of these rugs that are available for average consumers. An example is the Park Avenue red rug available at Walmart that ranges from 140 to 880 dollars depending on size. This rug boasts a Victorian style throughout the red and gold flora but keeps a Persian influence with the sand colored border that is seasoned with diamond shapes.

For more rustic and high quality (yet still in a reasonable price range) there are sheep skin rugs, that will compliment any dark hard wood floor. These are usually more around 700 dollars, and give a sense of comfort and wilderness. What is nice about these is that they are comfortable, but the almost heavenly white soft fur gives a great contrast to dark hard flooring.

When thinking of more drastic changes than a rug, travertine floor tile is an option. Here one can go with many variations. Among the most popular is a natural stone look, with colors of onyx and brick reds. The Denisle Beige is a good style, as it is both soft but keeps the new world stone style.
