The ability to tame fire was one of man’s first great accomplishments. Fire has given us the ability to heat our homes and cook our meals in a most efficient way. Today, electrically powered devices are quite prominent, but there are many cases where open flames are used for heating. Fire pits offer a contained way to start up a real fire around a home. Unlike campfires which can spread out of control if not watched at all times, fire pits use a bowl to keep the fire contained. Choosing to own a fire pit is not just a matter of heating- a fire pit can be a prominent decorative showpiece in a back or front yard. Their elaborate designs and styles make them both physically appealing and helpful.
These fire pits work under one simple principal. Propane gas is fed through a burner at a constant yet changeable rate. The gas is then lit with an electronic ignition button or match, depending on the model. The gas will continue to burn as long as there is fuel in the tank. Users can adjust the heat levels using the dial on the tank. Turning off the propane fire pit is as simple as rotating the dial clockwise until it stops. This method of creating fire can be far safer than that of wood.
The flames come out of a burner that sits inside of a basin. To hide the burner and add to decorative appeal, you can place artificial logs inside. This makes it look as if the flames are coming from the logs. In addition, you can put pieces of colored glass or rocks inside the basin to hide the burner. The flames will make their way up through this medium where they will emerge out through the top section.
