Buying A New Bed For My 8 Year Old

I have recently had the pleasure of re-decorating my 8 year old son’s bedroom as it had not been touched for several years and still had wallpaper that to be honest now was a bit immature for him. Whilst I planned out the décor I decided that he could probably do with a new bed as his old one was looking a bit shabby and overly slept in.

I decided to look on the internet and initially thought about a straight forward standard bed but was amazed when I saw all the different types of beds available. I looked at bunk beds which all kids love and was very tempted as he has started having the odd friend stay over, I also looked at a platform bed, however I then saw the cabin bed and was astounded at the practicality in this piece of furniture.

Cabin beds are a fantastic way of saving space within a small room as they can often double up as a bed with some practical storage space underneath. With storage space underneath the bed is obviously elevated and can often sit quite high up and require ladders to get up to it. With all the many different types available I decided to get my son involved and choose a bed he would enjoy. There were themed cabin beds i.e. pirate themes for boys and princess themes for girls, there were beds where you could have a TV or a computer underneath and there were even beds with slides.

My son eventually decided on a Stompa cabin bed that had a car theme and was shaped as a car but had storage underneath and a pullout guest bed, which is ideal for his friends when they stay over.

The cabin bed is pretty underrated in my opinion and they don’t seem to be well represented in the shops, however if you look online you will find that there are hundreds available at great prices.
