Olive Oil Soap is Fresh and Gentle

In our home we use olive oil all the time for cooking. It has a great taste and it really is much healthier than normal vegetable oil. In fact we love olive oil so much that we hardly ever use anything else. I use it on salads all the time as well as when cooking. There is hardly any better way to grill a great steak than to slather it with olive oil, add some garlic and pepper and a bit of salt and then throw it on the grill. The only time that I don’t use it is when making popcorn.
Even though I’ve been a great fan for a while I’d never really tried it as a cosmetic. Yet over the past few years I’ve been making a much greater effort to use mainly organic products in the home. That means not only in the kitchen but also in the bathroom. So it was only a matter of time before I discovered olive oil soap. To my surprise it is actually a really old product that dates all the way back to Roman and Ancient Greek times. Obviously it has changed quite a bit since then and it is only in modern times that it has been transformed from an oil that could be used for massaging into a proper soap that actually cleanses.
The great advantage of it is that it is natural and mild. I feel that it does not dry my skin out nearly as much as other sorts of soap. And I really like the smell and feel of olive oil soap. If you worry that it will leave you smelling like a salad then don’t because the smell is fresh and not at all oily. The other great thing is that it is quite widely available and not too pricey. Try it. You may be surprised at how much you like it.
