A lot of basketball players will tell you that if your jump is not high enough, you will not make it into pro basketball. Therefore, for any aspiring basketball player, practicing exercises to jump higher is one of the best ways to snag that slot in the pro division. But what if you really want to increase your vertical jump but there is something that pulls you down even though you do your vertical jump training really hard… and it is not something figurative? For aspiring athletes who are quite heavier than supposed to be, the secret to jumping higher is to lose weight.

If you think that you have gained weight and it is hard for you to jump higher than a couple of inches, it is about time to lose those baby fats if you are serious about joining the Dream Team. The simple rule of gravity dictates that the heavier a thing is, the more gravity pulls it down. Therefore, if you want to jump higher, you should weigh lesser, too. Start by committing to a serious weight loss plan. After you have toned down and built your overall muscle, that is the time when you can start doing your vertical jump training. This way, you would not be pulled down as much as before and it will also help you in moving faster.

If, however, you think that your weight has nothing to do with your vertical jump, you are wrong. No matter how much you practice and train to increase your jump, your weight will play an important role in being airborne. You could either hire a professional to help you in losing weight and increasing your jump at the same time or you could stick with your own exercise plan and diet.

Whatever it is that you choose, make sure that you will take into consideration the condition of your whole body before you commit yourself to a strenuous training.
