They make you better looking, which has it’s benefits in and of itself. Better looking people are proven to get better jobs, better looking companions, and have better confidence. This whole process is not something that you should wait to get going. You love your children, right? Give them a good head start in life by giving them the best chance at a great smile. A Glen Ellyn Dentist can tell you more about what you need to do to give your children a good start. Here are a few tips in the mean time to get you started.

You don’t have to wait until your children are born to start taking care of their teeth. Start early, eat healthy well you are pregnant. Before your children are born you can eat calcium rich foods. Calcium helps build strong bones. To make sure your body is absorbing all the calcium that you are taking get a good diet of Vitamin D as well. Vitamin D helps your body absorb all the calcium.

Once your child has been born make sure to teach them proper oral hygiene early. Do not give them to much sugar so that their teeth can develop naturally and healthy. Avoid dipping your child’s pacifier in sugar or honey. When they get teeth teach them to floss and brush their teeth. Do it for them until they are old enough to do it themselves. Proper flossing will help keep their gums healthy and strong. Also, make sure to brush for the recommended amount of time, two minutes. If you teach them young then they will always remember to brush and floss, and they can have a great set of teeth. It will also keep your dental costs down.
