Blackheads or open comedones are brought about by too much build up of sebum in your pores. The clogged toxins which are a combination of blood, sebum, dirt and lymph fluid will lead to the formation of a sticky gel-like substance. The exposed part then oxidizes which gives it that distinct black color which is why it is referred to as blackheads.
This dreaded skin condition is experienced mostly by teenagers because this is the stage wherein the production of oil or sebum rises due to overly active hormones. However, there are also people who are troubled by blackheads and whiteheads even after the stage of puberty. There is actually no real secret on how to get rid of blackheads on face. It can be remedied as well as prevented by simply maintaining the proper skin hygiene. Here then are a couple of tips on how you can eliminate blackheads and whiteheads.
Like what was mentioned above, blackheads are caused by too much accumulation of oil on your skin, so the best solution to eliminate these nasty buggers is to keep your skin as oil-free as possible. Use a mild facial cleanser when cleaning your face. When you are out to buy one, make sure that you choose a cleanser which is intended for oily skin. You can also regularly apply a good astringent on your skin to reduce the oiliness. Purchase medicated gels or topical creams preferably those which have resorcinol, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These ingredients will help saturate the oil and will also aid in shedding away the whiteheads and blackheads. They are also great for diminishing and removing scars brought about by acne.
You can also use a facial scrub and exfoliators to eradicate blackheads and whiteheads. Just remember to purchase a mild brand and you can use these products for about four to five times a week to exfoliate your facial skin.
