There are very good therapies available to treat most forms of eczema. Even children, with their very sensitive skin, can use a wide variety of remedies. However, if your child is suffering from eczema on their eyelids, treating the problem can be more difficult.

Eyelid eczema will normally appear on your child’s eyelids, brow area, and even under the eyes. The proximity to the eyes is why it some remedies are not recommended. It is possible that they can get into the eyes, causing burning or stinging, affecting your child’s vision.

This does not mean you do not have any options available. If you are careful, you can get the same effectiveness in the eyelid area as you would on other body parts using many of the same remedies. All you have to do is know how to treat eczema in children and be willing to adapt those treatments for your needs.

For example, salt water baths are often used to treat eczema in children. Of course, you cannot put your child’s eyes in a salt water bath. However, you can soak a wash cloth in salt water and then use it as a compress on your child’s eyelids.

In another example, many people use lotions and creams to treat eczema. However, many of these lotions are rather runny. They can run into the eyes, causing problems. You can mix these lotions with petroleum jelly until they are very thick. The thick mixture will not run into your eyes, staying in place over the afflicted skin.

If you are willing to adapt and be creative, you will be able to help your child’s eyelids find soothing relief and healing. There are plenty of ways you can change a normal therapy in order to treat eczema on the eyelids. If you are careful, you will be able to get all of the benefits of normal eczema remedies with none of the worries.
