Dry shampoo used to be a terrible product which would build up in one’s hair and leave a miserable itchy residue for your scalp to contend with. I am happy to say that this is no longer the case, and with the many products on the market we now have at our fingertips today is a better time than ever to consider the benefits of dry hair shampoo and similar products. They have a million new and exciting uses that never used to be as feasible as they are now.

How Dry Shampoo Works

Dry shampoo is a powder that is worked into the scalp and left in the hair for a few minutes. It is made mostly of talcum and either a rice or corn starch product and bonds to the hair’s natural oils and dirt. When the powder is removed, the offending oil, debris, and dirt go with it. Simple, but brilliant. This idea has been around since Napoleonic times, when the idea was to add perfumes to hair rather than washing the whole head and making it wet. I think the elaborate hair styles of the time rather encouraged this, but it never really caught on here until modern times.

Who Gains The Most Benefit From Dry Shampoo

which is amazing considering they aren’t exactly a cheap product to begin with. Super busy people who travel tons and may not be somewhere they can shower easily are going to find this product a God send, and if you are working out a lot and don’t have the luxury of a shower after they have finished will also love how clean and fresh dry shampoos make them feel. Expensive hair treatments and colored hair will also gain leaps and bounds by not having the product stripped from the hair that the client pays so much money for in the first place, and I love taking my dry shampoo camping, where even if you have a camp shower, it’s a super short cold one and you may not want to soak your whole head while you are out without a proper facilities. Having an entire yard of hair is also a good reason to explore the uses for dry shampoos, not having to blow dry your hair can save you tons of time and aggravation, not to mention the tangles.
