Planning your wedding reception site in Nashville and looking for a Nashville wedding band? Live bands are great, but if it is not within your budget or just doesn’t fit your reception set-up – then a Nashville wedding DJ is a terrific second option.

But it can’t be just any wedding DJ. Like with most wedding service providers, experience is the key. You don’t want to use the hotel “DJ” who is perhaps really no dj at all. He’s an employee who wears a 100 different hats, and operating the sound system may just be one of them.

You want a real wedding DJ. Someone who knows music, has a ton of it in all genres, and knows how to entertain. Otherwise, after your wedding guests have eaten their meal, they may just want to leave. You got to have something that they will enjoy sticking around for.

More specifically what are you looking for in a dj.

As already hinted at, different people have different tastes in music. You don’t want a dj who is going to play all the music he loves – or even only the music you love. You want music for all your guests. That’s why you need a dj who has a lot of music and who knows what music each age group likes. He or she can suggest some music that you are not familiar with.

Also find out what the dj would wear to your wedding. You would think this is something you wouldn’t need to check into, but believe us, it is. While they aren’t the center of attention, there are times when they are front and center. You don’t want someone who looks like a slouch at your historic Nashville wedding location. You can look at the dj’s website and get an idea of what they wear at weddings. But we wouldn’t trust that by itself. Directly ask them how they will dress for your wedding reception.

Finally, you need to look at the whole package to get an impression of the seriousness of this person in the dj-ing business. You might want someone who does this full-time rather than a part-timer. Afterall, the part-timer isn’t as worried about this as an income source as the full-time person is. Someone who is dependant on the income may do a better job for you.
