Direct TV Service in Arizona

The deserts of Arizona are known for their beauty and of course intense temperature during the summer months.  There is another white hot battle going on as well, as satellite and cable television companies fight for subscribers.   Cox cable is the dominant player in Phoenix, with millions of subscribers who enjoy cable, high speed internet and phone service.  Other players include Qwest, the local phone company in the area that resells Direct TV service.  So if you live in this area, what are some of the considerations when looking at these communication companies?

Cox communications of course has an advantage in that they can offer you a triple play package of services.  Many enjoy being able to call one company if they have an issue, not to mention the combined billing option you can get from the cable company.  If you are a new customer, you can often score a great deal as the packages are usually reduced in price for one year.  Look out though after the promotional period ends, as you will often find that your rates jump 50 percent or more.

The Direct TV Arizona option also has promotional pricing for a one year period.  Right now, residents across the state can get a $29 reduction on any Direct TV package, but you have to remember that satellite TV service requires a two year commitment.  That means you will have at least one year of regular Direct TV pricing before you can move to another provider.

Another option of course is Dish Network satellite service, though their discount is just $15 off any package for twelve months.  If you are a displaced football fan living in Arizona, then Direct TV is the better choice.  Why?  They are the sole provider of the NFL Sunday Ticket package, so if you are from back East you can still see your home team play week in and week out.
