Can You Be Almost Vegetarian?

People laugh at me all the time when I say that I wish I was a vegetarian. My husband, AKA “the carnivore” thinks that the idea is both comical and unhealthy. I have tried to explain to him that most studies indicate that people who do not consume animal products have a much lower risk of developing cancer. Not only that, but most environmental experts agree that eating vegetarian is far more Earth-friendly.

He counters with evidence that suggests that people who eat more protein weigh less and tells me that I will have to start taking a regular b12 shot or I will put myself at risk of developing all sorts of neurological issues. (Yikes, a shot?!)

And so goes the battle in our home. He feeds our boys nuggets and hot dogs. I feed them fruit and quinoa. I am happy to say that both my husband and boys are a big fan of me cooking quinoa!

You may wonder why anyone would wish that they followed a vegetarian diet and not actually do so. The problem is that while I do not enjoy any type of meat, my body seems to crave it. I am naturally very muscular for a woman and it seems to me that my muscles really seem to need the protein.

For a while, I did follow a “pretty strict” vegetarian diet. I would say that about 180 out of 200 meals were meat free. The problem is that every time I become what my husband calls a “carbo-vore” I gain 10 pounds. I feel hungry (but happy) all the time.

So for now, I will continue to use meat more as a condiment and less as the main focus of my diet. As time goes on, hopefully I can make meat an even smaller part of my diet.

Health is a concern of this century and health problems are on the top in today’s generation. If we check the last century problems were there as well as death rate was also higher than this century, but the problems a normal man was getting were low as compared to today. If we see around us or within us, we complain about everything, about our health problems and many more. You might think that we have good medicines available and best doctors also. Yes we have, also our science is so much advanced that we have cure on every disease virtually. Then why last century people were healthier?

The answer is in the food they were eating. They had very less knowledge diet word but they knew what is healthy and what is unhealthy. They eat which suits them and which is healthy; we eat what we feel tasty without knowing it may be UN healthy for us. Hence we have ever increasing health problems. Fortunately we have learnt the ways in which we can take supplementary food for our daily nutrition needs like health drinks, protein shakes, green tee etc,

Health Drinks are the juices or shakes of natural fruits or some trees which are rich in the vitamins and minerals, which provides the nutrition’s we require in concentrated manner. One very good example is aloe vera juice which is full of acids, vitamins. Aloe vera is also known to be a good immune system improver hence used worldwide. Protein shakes are for those who doesn’t receive the daily needs of protein as well as for those who do heavy workout in gyms. Green tea is a unique tea in itself mainly used for stomach problems; wu long tea is one another very good tea which is very special one for curing many problems of a person.

As much as you are concerned, pets also have recommended diets like humans. Humans have their recommended dietary allowance to remind them of the nutrition they have to take in order to be healthy.
