If you are a person with an earned graduate degree and razor-sharp computer skills, it would be a very good idea to investigate online adjunct jobs with online bachelor degree programs and online master’s degree programs. The excellent search strategy for finding online adjunct faculty positions is to visit the websites of the over five thousand technical schools, community colleges, state colleges and universities and for profit academic institutions that confer the online bachelor degree and online master’s degree. Many non-traditional college students, who make up the bulk of new and returning college students today, are taking to distance education technology like ducks to water. These college students are struggling with family and employments demands while earning online university degrees such as an online business management degree, a library science degree online and an online rn to bsn degree and they appreciate the flexibility offered by the ability to attend classes from their personal computers at any time of the day or night.

Individuals who search for and apply to teach for accredited online college degree programs can enjoy the same positive elements of distance education technology as the college students. An online adjunct instructor with strong time management skills and Internet savvy can coordinate the teaching of many online classes at one time. Unlike traditional adjunct instructors in the past, an online college teacher is not limited to the academic institutions within driving distance. Today, a college adjunct teacher can work at any of the thousands of post-secondary institutions, and as time goes on every community college, state college and four-year universities will have an entire host of online degree programs for their students.

This means that there will be a growing career path emerging from the online college jobs that must be filled every time an online college classes is put on the Internet. Of course, any emerging career such as online teaching must be followed closely, and any person who wants to engage distance education as a potential online adjunct must familiarize themselves with its dimensions. Further, since the Internet is changing rapidly it is important to have a strategy in place to coordinate those changes to one’s benefit.

It would be a good idea to create a spreadsheet at the beginning of the search for online faculty openings. The reason this would be a good idea is that a record of each submission of academic qualifications to each school must be documented by date. For-profit academic institutions understand the power of combining distance education, inexpensive computers and the Internet, so they have many online bachelor degree programs to offer their students, but the traditional college and universities have been late to the party, so to speak. So, it may take several applications for online teaching job openings to a traditional school before an invitation is actually received from the post-secondary institution. It would probably be a good idea to re-submit the application once a month until some response is received from the individual schools. Granted, discovering online adjunct jobs is real work, but it is not all that hard to receive an invitation to teach for an online degree program if you make the effort.
