Menu covers come in a variety of materials. The clear plastic being the least expensive and is a good idea for those just starting out and unsure of the style of cover which is best for them. There are new and novel types of materials coming into production. Now a restaurant owner can go “green” in the choice of covers.
The range of expense in the covers for the menu is wide. A bonded leather menu cover can also be ordered , if you are running an upscale establishment. Leatherette is another choice. Expense can be added to covers if many options are desired, such as the addition of metal corners.
Menu covers might not even go on a traditional menu. Some restaurants have the menu at the table on a stand, appearing like a small sign. The difference is that the menu is attached to spiral rings that hold the sheets. You must flip it over to see the other pages. This type of menu can make your restaurant stand out, but again a careful analysis of the clientele is needed.
You can have a large menu sitting in an acrylic holder. The menu will be of one page, shielded with a cover and will remain in its acrylic holder on the table permanently. No need for the waiter or waitress to return and dictate the choice of desserts because not to relate the choices would entail bringing back the menus.
When one thinks of the large menu with the lunch specials clipped to the top, a diner comes to mind. On the other hand the same size large menu is usually fitting for a middle to upscale restaurant. If you are running a very small start-up business a paper menu that is disposable would be sufficient. Menu covers come in many varieties with new ones appearing frequently.
