Selling Scrap Gold For Extra Cash

Nowadays, we seem to be seeing a lot more studies saying that people are unsatisfied with their line of work. One complaint that seems to be the common thread through all of the survey results is that people wish they had more accountability (and commensurate reward) at their work. In other words, people want to be able to take more risks, and to be rewarded according to the level of those risks when they succeed.
This, of course, would be a very big change from the way that most people currently work. Success at most jobs in traditional industries are tied to grunt work – that is, doing the same thing over and over again, and getting rewarded in a linear fashion – no risks, and no big rewards either. Certainly, this must get quite dull very quickly, and it is no surprise that a lot of people are seeking change these days.
Interestingly, this is a very good time to be seeking such change. The recent financial crisis has had a lot of effects on certain industries, particularly ones where financial reward is tied to the amount of risks one is exposed to. Take, for example, the precious metals industry – being a gold merchant is one job where reward is directly tied to risk. As we all know, the question a lot of people were asking during the recession was “Can I get some extra cash if I choose to sell my gold?” In a lot of cases, the answer was yes, and a lot of businesses arose to buy and sell scrap gold. This was a very rewarding industry – anyone who pays attention to the markets and commodity prices knows that the price of gold has been shooting through the roof for the past year or so. Gold merchants, who were in a position to purchase large amounts of people’s gold during the last few years of the recession, are now cashing in on the fact that their inventories are now worth several times what they paid for them.
