Different Ways to Display an Id Badge

In recent times, many employers have turned to identification badges as a means of added security in the office.  Id badges not only serve as an identification method, but with technological advances in the workplace, they have become security cards that can be swiped as well.  In most offices, workers are required to display their id card clearly and at all times.

One of the most common ways to display an id badge comes with the use of a plastic badge holder that is pinned or clipped to the clothing.  These holders are often supplied to workers by an employer as they display a badge clearly and are cost effective from the employer’s perspective.  While a pinned holder gets the job done, there are some limitations in its use.  Most notably, this type of display is a hassle to work with for employees that need to swipe through id card through a security device.  Another downfall to this display option is that the pin or clip can cause damage to a worker’s clothing over time.

One way to avoid this damage of clothing is to use a magnetic badge holder.  While this holder displays the badge in exactly the same way, the holder is attached to the clothing through the use of magnets.  This allows the user to avoid damaging their clothing while still having the badge displayed on the chest.  With one magnet attached to the back of the id holder, the other magnet is placed inside the shirt and when the two come into close contact, they seal together to keep the holder in place.

If you don’t like wearing the id badge on your chest, name badge lanyards provide a different display option.  Worn around the neck, a lanyard is a comfortable option for badge display purposes.  When the id badge is attached to the end of the lanyard, the id hangs in front of the stomach.  A lanyard also provides much easier access to a badge than a typical holder and this becomes important if security swipe devices are present in the workplace.

There are a handful of different display options available for id badges, but these three work well for most people.  If id badges are used as security devices, you’ll definitely want to avoid the typical holder as it makes swiping a card very difficult.
