The Architectural Styles in Alicante

Alicante produced lots of great architectures made evident by numerous monuments and buildings in the city. If you have a distinct taste for artistry then you should come and see the architectures in Alicante. It is more than what your eyes can see. It represents the true beauty of Alicante from Renaissance cathedrals to Gothic churches. You will be amazed with the architectural styles which have received numerous praises because of their elegance.

Moorish  Architecture
Moorish architecture includes spacious and flamboyant buildings. It encompasses different geometric patterns and symmetry which are formed repetitively. This architectural style can be seen in the famous Castillo de Santa Barbara and probably the most impressive form of Moorish architecture.

Gothic  Architecture
The Gothic elements are consisting of cross-shaped vaults, numerous chapels and exquisite arches.  The Iglesia de Santa Maria is one perfect example of Gothic Arthictecture with a touch of Mediterranean art. You will find a lot of Alicante Spain hotels are made in this style.

Renaissance
Next to the gothic era is Renaissance. This architectural style is greatly inspired by the works coming from Europe. This style involves classic shapes, columns and symmetry and originated in Italy back in 15th and 16th century. As opposed to gothic Architecture, Renaissance architecture is conservative and the over emphasis on heights and gothic structures are replaced with simple shapes.

Baroque
Baroque architecture has something to do with columns and decoratives. Every pattern has a structural purpose and the traces of classic shapes from Renaissance architecture are slowly transformed into strong and solid patterns.  The Ayuntamiento city hall portrays the Baroque architectural style with its broken forms and incomplete circular patterns.

Modernist
Modernist architecture is influenced by two architectural styles, Moorish and Gothic. Its signature elements involve vigorous shapes, repeated designs and natural motif such as trees and flowers. The Casa de las Brujas in Alicante perfectly illustrates the Modernist architecture.
